I recently returned from my first year at the Owner/President Management (OPM) course at Harvard, partially funded by the SA Industry Leaders Fund (ILF), and I wanted to pass on my thanks to Geoff and everyone involved in the ILF program. What a journey. Learning alongside the best entrepreneurs in the world, from the very best professors in the world, was an amazing experience.
I selected the OPM program at Harvard as I already have an MBA and 20 years of international leadership experience, and as a result, I was really looking for a program that built on this knowledge.
My involvement in the OPM program certainly met that requirement. It left me highly motivated and thoroughly refreshed, both in mind and body. In addition to covering the necessary hard skills, such as valuations and marketing, as well as some of the more interesting soft skills around the psychology of negotiations and HR, combined with the fantastic relationships that we all forged, you come back realising that there is so much more that we entrepreneurs can be doing to accelerate growth.
As a result of the program, PowerHealth Solutions has no less than five different high growth initiatives underway, ranging from large acquisitions and new international partnerships to the development of disruptive technologies and all new complimentary offerings to take advantage of identified ‘white space’ in our industry, all within three months of completing my first term at Harvard.
As you can expect, I can’t wait for term 2.
