Firstly, thank you to Geoff and the Industry Leaders Fund for supporting me on my learning journey.
I met Geoff Vogt at a conference in Adelaide and was informed of the ILF organisation. The opportunity to further my education and be part of a unique networking group immediately grabbed my attention. The application process was very clear and fantastic support was offered by Geoff.
My role at Duxton Capital is very broad. I am an investment manager overseeing assets in wine, fruit, infrastructure, property and water. This diverse exposure made it difficult to select a single study program. In order to maximise the effectiveness of the ILF funds, I chose to study the Strategic Finance program at Harvard Business School, along with the Senior Manager’s Program at Melbourne Business School. The two courses were perfectly aligned with my role at Duxton and have since proven to be tremendously useful. The former course had a focus on creating value and driving growth within my businesses, whereas the latter course enabled me to fine-tune my management style into a more dynamic approach. In addition to the new knowledge, I gained significant networking opportunities at the two business schools. My network has now expanded to over 20 countries, with the cohort at HBS comprising 50 students from 20 nationalities. I am confident with my newly found skills and expanded network that Duxton and South Australia will benefit.
The journey across the two business schools is most definitely life changing. I am incredibly grateful to the ILF for the opportunity to undertake study at this level and I encourage others to apply to this outstanding initiative.
