ILF Awards $100,000 to SA’s future industry leaders.
Manufacturing, mining, wine making, confectionery, and IT are all South Australian industries that will benefit from this years round of development grants by the Industry Leaders Fund Incorporated (ILF).
$100,000 has been awarded between nine of the states most talented applicants in the organisations third year of annual grants funding.
Glenn Cooper AM presented grants ranging from $5,000 to $23,000 at a ceremony on Thursday September 6 to: Marc Allgrove, CEO, Chapel Hill Wines, McLaren Vale – $5,000 for Company Directors course, AICD. Rick Candy, Operations Manager, Candy Canvas, Tintinara – $10,000 for Graduate Certificate, Business Administration, UniSA. David Heaslip, MD, Century Engineering, Beverly – $23,000 for Future Thinking and Strategy Development Program, plus Advanced Management Program, Mt Eliza. Kelly Keates, MD/Owner, Zonge Engineering, Edwardstown – $12,000 for Leadership Best Practices course, Harvard, Boston USA. Eddie Lane, SA Manager, Integra Water Treatment Solutions, Regency Park – $16,000 for Advanced Management Program, Mt Eliza. Dr Michael Riese, New Business Development Director, J&H Williams, Port Adelaide – $8,000 for Senior Managers Program, Mt Eliza. Richard Sims, GM/Director, Robern Menz, Glynde – $7,000 for Leadership Development Program, Mt Eliza. Corrina Wright, Winemaker/Director, Olivers Taranga Vineyards, McLaren Vale – $14,000 for High Potentials Leadership Program, Harvard, Boston USA. Steve Todd, GM, Scan Conversion Services, Adelaide – $5,000 for Company Directors course, AICD. Grants awarded go towards study at the prestigious Harvard Business School in Boston, USA; Mt Eliza, Melbourne Business School; UniSA and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. ILF CEO Geoff Vogt said it is the organisations intention that grant recipients become industry leaders in the state and will go on to generate wealth-creating, world-competitive, value-adding opportunities and in turn, work towards creating and re-establishing a head office mentality in South Australia. “The grants are intended to support individuals who can demonstrate their leadership potential and interest in sharing the benefit of their talents, knowledge and achievements with the industry in which they work and the community in which they live”, Mr. Vogt said. “This year, the Board was specifically impressed by entrants from small businesses with enormous potential to grow, whereas in 2011, award winners were, in the main, identified from larger companies. The ILF is rapidly gaining recognition by business leaders as the principal fund in its field.
