Course: General Manager Program
The ILF grant enabled my attendance at the General Manager Program offered by the University of NSW – Business School (AGSM). The AGSM GM course provided a broad syllabus that drew from the experience of each of the participants while providing highly relevant learning for leaders who have just entered or are about to enter a General Management role. In my case I am preparing for the next stage of my career and through the opportunity that the ILF grant has provided me, am now more prepared to perform in a General Management role. The gain for myself, my employer and the state is both a faster transition into this role and importantly, a lower risk and higher performing outcome in a shorter timeframe.
Several key learnings from the AGSM GM course resonated with me including presence during communication, the importance of risk appropriate business decisions, the impact of behaviour and culture on stakeholder motivation and the support a professional network can provide for my role and career.
I am very grateful for the opportunity that the ILF has provided me and the streamlined process to being awarded the grant. I am looking forward to ‘paying forward’ the investment the ILF has made in my professional development and I encourage anyone who believes further professional development will benefit themselves and South Australia to apply.
