Institution: University of Adelaide
Course: Master of Agribusiness
I am incredibly grateful to the Industry Leaders Fund (ILF) for the opportunity to enhance my leadership and business acumen through their generous support. With the ILF grant, I successfully completed a Master of Agribusiness at the University of Adelaide, a program carefully chosen for its alignment with my industry and its ability to foster both academic and practical leadership skills.
The decision to undertake this program stemmed from my desire to grow as a leader within the agricultural sector. The Master of Agribusiness provided a comprehensive learning experience that blended theory and hands-on application. Courses in finance, strategic management, systems and policies, people and organisations and leadership equipped me with the tools to drive business innovation and decision-making within my organisation. Additionally, the program offered opportunities for collaborative learning with peers, enriching my understanding of diverse perspectives and challenges within the agricultural industry.
During the course, I engaged in real-world problem-solving, strategic planning, and leadership workshops that enabled me to translate classroom knowledge into actionable insights. Highlights included visiting a number of prominent and successful South Australian agribusiness and learning firsthand from their experiences. Furthermore, as part of my research project, I was able to apply my learnings to analyse a real life project in development at TFI.
The ILF application process itself was an enriching journey. Crafting my application and undergoing the panel interview encouraged me to reflect deeply on my leadership aspirations and professional trajectory. The guidance and encouragement provided by the ILF team, particularly Geoff Vogt, were invaluable in setting the foundation for this transformative experience.
This program has had a measurable impact on both my personal growth and my organisation. The insights gained have empowered me to implement new processes, improve team collaboration, and drive strategic initiatives that contribute to long-term success. The opportunity to network with industry leaders and academics has also expanded my professional connections, fostering ongoing learning and collaboration.
I am deeply appreciative of the ILF for investing in my development and for their commitment to supporting future leaders in South Australia. The experience has not only broadened my capabilities but also inspired me to contribute meaningfully to my industry and community. I look forward to remaining an active member of the ILF alumni network, sharing knowledge and supporting the next generation of leaders.
Thank you to Geoff, Suzi, the ILF board, and everyone involved in this program for this opportunity.
