In September 2023, I was honoured to receive an Industry Leaders Fund (ILF) grant to attend the prestigious Oxford Strategic Leadership Programme at the University of Oxford in May 2024. This intensive program provided an unparalleled opportunity for self-reflection, personal growth, and leadership enhancement.
The week-long experience was transformative, providing a mix of feedback, self-assessment, and tools to develop as a leader. I was immersed in a collaborative and inspiring environment, surrounded by a diverse network of senior leaders from around the globe. One of the program’s standout features was its use of arts-based activities to surface the unique qualities of each leader. These creative approaches encouraged deep reflection and fostered personal and professional growth in a way that traditional methods often cannot. The program’s emphasis on innovative thinking, strategic alignment, and personal purpose left a lasting impact on how I approach leadership challenges.
The timing of this program was pivotal for me, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of Solutions+, the business I founded. As the organisation has grown to 35+ staff and expanded into New Zealand, my leadership style has needed to evolve to support my team effectively and drive the business’s continued success. The program equipped me with the skills and perspective to navigate this next phase of growth.
Even six months after completing the program, I continue to reflect on and apply its lessons. The insights gained have transformed how I approach challenges, enabling me to refine my decision-making process, foster meaningful change within Solutions+, and develop innovative strategies to grow the business.
The more effort and engagement I invested into the program, the greater the rewards. The connections I made with my cohort remain invaluable, offering not only professional insights but also lasting friendships.
I am deeply grateful to the ILF for this life-changing opportunity. This experience has not only shaped my leadership approach but also reinforced my commitment to driving positive impact within Solutions+, my community, and the South Australian economy. I look forward to leveraging the skills and connections gained to inspire growth and innovation.
