Course: Transformative Leadership Program & Professional Management Program
In 2023, I was fortunate to receive funding through the ILF, which enabled me to enroll in two courses at the University of Adelaide: the Professional Management Program (PMP) and the Transformative Leadership Program (TLP). I began with the PMP, which covered a wide range of topics essential for business management, including finance, people management, project planning, and leadership. Although I had completed similar training in the past, this course was far more comprehensive, reinforcing and expanding my knowledge of daily business operations. I completed the PMP part-time over six months, graduating in November 2023.
The second course, the TLP, was promoted as one of the University’s flagship programs, and it exceeded expectations. This course marked a pivotal moment in my career, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity. The TLP spanned two weeks, with some online components, and the first intensive was held in a stunning location in the Queensland rainforest, which greatly enhanced the experience. The curriculum explored various leadership concepts, helping me gain a deeper understanding of my leadership style and how I present myself in both professional and personal contexts. We also developed advanced problem-solving skills and learned multiple approaches to identifying, interpreting, and addressing challenges. The cohort of 12 participants from diverse industries enriched the course, offering valuable insights from different sectors.
The standout feature of the TLP was the facilitators, Andrew and Barry. Their extensive knowledge and seamless teamwork in delivering the content were exceptional. Notably, the course relied on no screens or PowerPoint presentations, which was a significant benefit for me, as I tend to disengage during slide-based presentations. This dynamic, screen-free delivery kept me fully engaged.
I highly recommend the TLP to anyone in a senior leadership role. It was an invaluable experience, and I eagerly anticipate participating in the follow-up course.
