Ryan George (ILF2015)

Institution: Torrens University Australia (Adelaide)
Course: Graduate Certificate of Business Administration

In September 2015, I was awarded an Industry Leaders Fund (ILF) grant and received $6000 to put towards my Graduate Certificate of Business Administration at Torrens University Australia, Adelaide.

The three-step application process for an ILF grant was straightforward, although required some thought provoking ideas of what I expected to get out of the process and ultimately how I saw myself as a future leader. The final interview with the ILF board was a great experience and overall the ILF has given me the opportunity to expedite the realisation of my leadership potential.

The Graduate Certificate is the first step towards achieving my MBA. Some of the skills I have developed or further strengthened during my course include – leadership, intellectual creativity, analysis and critical thinking, cross-cultural awareness, communication and greater emotional intelligence.
Since completing the Graduate Certificate of Business Administration I have received several promotions from Sales Engineer to Key Account Manager and just recently I have accepted a position to take on the role of Business Development Manager Western Australia, spearheading Mayfield Industries expansion into the West.

I would like to thank Mayfield Industries for providing the opportunity and additional Course funds, the ILF and Geoff Vogt. I feel very privileged to have been awarded the grant and to now also be an ILF Scholar with access to a wonderful network of highly qualified individuals all working towards improving themselves, their companies and the state.

I look forward to future opportunities with the ILF as I look to completing my MBA in the next two years.
