Professional Management Program

I wanted to share with you the incredible experience I had recently as part of the Professional Management Program at the University of Adelaide. As the co-founder of Compostable Alternatives, the program has significantly contributed to both my personal and professional growth.

One of the most impactful outcomes of the Professional Management program was our strategic project, which allowed Compostable Alternatives to define a robust retail strategy. As a result, we successfully launched our certified home compostable gloves in retail in 2023. The collaboration with the most sustainable supermarket chain, Foodland, has been particularly noteworthy. Our products are now available in Foodland Pasadena, Foodland Frewville, Foodland Norwood, Foodland Henley, Foodland Munno Para, Foodland Robe, Foodland Yorketown, and Foodland Goolwa.

Beyond the tangible business achievements, the program provided a unique opportunity to grow my network and connect with like-minded business owners and mentors within the South Australian ecosystem. The relationships forged during this period have already proven invaluable, opening up new avenues for collaboration and partnerships.

Additionally, the Professional Management Program enhanced my understanding of finance, a crucial aspect of my CEO role and as a former independent member at the Fleurieu Waste Regional Authority. The knowledge gained in this area has been directly applicable to my responsibilities at Compostable Alternatives, contributing to more informed and strategic decision-making.

I must highlight the thoroughness of the selection process for the grant and the great support from former CEO, Mr. Geoff Vogt. It was one of the most challenging scholarship applications I’ve undertaken, reflecting the high standards and quality of the Industry Leaders Fund (ILF). This rigorous approach has undoubtedly contributed to the excellence of the Professional Management Program undertaken.

I would like to extend special thanks to Mr. Geoff Vogt for his visionary leadership, Suzi for her support and work behind the scenes, the ILF Board and new CEO Richard Barrett which has played a crucial role in shaping my journey and will continue to support and shape the growing South Australian ecosystem and benefit the local economy.

In summary, I wholeheartedly endorse the Industry Leaders Fund and express sincere gratitude for this remarkable opportunity. The experience has enhanced my leadership capabilities and enriched my life in ways I could never have imagined. The ILF scholarship has been instrumental in elevating both my leadership skills and the strategic direction of Compostable Alternatives. I am grateful for the opportunity and support provided, and I look forward to applying the insights gained to further contribute to the sustainable practices within our industry in South Australia and inspire more young leaders in the State.
