A Transformative Experience

This incredible opportunity was made possible by Geoff Vogt’s encouragement and persistence, for which I am truly grateful. Having someone recognise your potential as a leader is both humbling and empowering, and Geoff’s belief in me led to my enrolment in the Stanford Executive Program for Growing Companies—an experience that far exceeded my expectations.

Immersing myself in Stanford’s world-class faculty and engaging with CEOs, founders, and senior executives from 32 countries was both inspiring and transformative.

Key Learnings and Takeaways

  1. Scaling with Strategic Growth and Leadership

The program provided practical frameworks for scaling businesses and leading effectively, covering (i) Innovative business models for sustainable expansion (ii) Agile leadership in fast-changing environments, and (iii) High-stakes decision-making frameworks.

These insights will directly shape my approach to growing South Australian businesses, ensuring they remain competitive and thrive in an evolving market.

  1. The Power of Global Networks

The program’s diverse perspectives were one of its greatest strengths. Learning from leaders across industries and continents allowed me to (i) Gain fresh insights into common business challenges (ii) Exchange real-world strategies for growth, and (iii) Build a global network of trusted peers, not to mention lifelong friendships.

This experience reinforced the importance of collaboration and strong networks—both internationally and within South Australia’s business community.

  1. A Personal Reflection: Resilience, Connection, and Growth

Beyond the professional insights, this experience was deeply personal. I had the privilege of sharing this journey with my mother, who travelled with me. While I was focused on learning, she reconnected with friends she hadn’t seen in nearly 50 years—since the Cambodian war.

Watching her rekindle these bonds was a powerful reminder that life, like business, is built on relationships and resilience. Just as she was reconnecting with her past, I was forging new connections that will shape my future.

One of the biggest takeaways from Stanford: Great leadership isn’t just about strategy—it’s also about people, relationships, and the ability to adapt and grow.

Looking Ahead

I am incredibly grateful to the Industry Leaders Fund for making this experience possible.

The knowledge, insights, and global networks I gained from Stanford will have a lasting impact—not just on my career, but on the businesses and communities I serve in South Australia.

This is just the beginning.
