A Leadership Journey Made Possible by the ILF
I first learned about the Industry Leaders Fund (ILF) and the incredible opportunities it offers through conversations with past scholars. When Geoff Vogt encouraged me to apply, I saw it as not just an opportunity to further my education but also as a vote of confidence in my leadership potential. Having someone recognise and support your growth as a leader is incredibly motivating, and I am deeply grateful to the ILF for this life-changing experience.
The application process itself was a rewarding journey—reflecting on my leadership experiences, articulating my future goals, and preparing for the panel interview pushed me to think deeply about my career trajectory. With ILF’s support, I was fortunate to attend the High Potentials Leadership Program at Harvard Business School (HBS), a program designed to equip leaders with the skills and mindset needed to take on senior leadership roles
The Harvard Experience
Stepping onto the Harvard Business School campus was both exhilarating and humbling. The program was an intensive, six-day residential course filled with high-energy discussions, thought-provoking case studies, and leadership simulations. The learning approach at Harvard is unique—every discussion was dynamic, challenging, and designed to push us beyond conventional thinking.
Throughout the program, I explored key leadership themes, including:
✅ Strategic leadership and decision-making – Understanding how to navigate complexity and drive meaningful change.
✅ Emotional intelligence in leadership – The power of self-awareness, adaptability, and influence in high-stakes environments.
✅ Resilient leadership – Learning how to thrive under pressure and guide teams through uncertainty.
✅ Leading with impact – Aligning leadership vision with organisational goals for long-term success.
One of the most powerful aspects of the program was the diverse cohort of leaders from across industries and geographies. Engaging in rich discussions, exchanging ideas, and learning from their experiences added a whole new dimension to my learning.
Beyond the Classroom
The Harvard experience extended far beyond academics. The opportunity to connect with global leaders, share perspectives, and build a strong network was invaluable. The relationships and insights gained from these interactions will continue to shape my leadership approach long after the program.
The Impact
This program has transformed the way I think about leadership. It has provided me with practical strategies, new perspectives, and a strengthened ability to lead with confidence and impact. I have already begun applying these learnings within my organization, ensuring that the benefits extend beyond myself to my colleagues and teams.
Gratitude and Looking Ahead
I am immensely thankful to Geoff Vogt, Suzi, and the ILF Board for their unwavering support and for providing this incredible opportunity to South Australian leaders. The ILF’s commitment to developing leadership talent and fostering industry growth is truly inspiring, and I am honored to be part of this prestigious network.
Beyond the Harvard experience, being part of the ILF alumni community is an ongoing source of learning, mentorship, and connection. I look forward to continuing to engage with fellow scholars, sharing knowledge, supporting future leaders, and contributing to the ILF network.
This journey has reinforced a simple but powerful truth—great leaders never stop learning
