Institution:
Harvard Business School, USA

Course:
Changing the Game: Negotiation and Competitive Decision Making

I attended Harvard’s Changing The Game: Negotiation and Competitive Decision Making course in Boston in 2023. I chose an international course at the recommendation of Geoff Vogt to expand my international network, having already completed a few executive education courses within Australia. It was an exceptional experience, and I’m very appreciative to the ILF for this opportunity which I may not have pursued on my own.

Over the week, the course progresses from very basic negotiation scenarios to highly complex ones and I have left the course with more confidence to effectively navigate a range of scenarios, the knowledge of the levers available in complex negotiation processes, and the tools to make high-quality decisions when put on the spot.

I greatly valued the immersive nature of this course where all meals and accommodation are provided for the week, as this allowed for several networking opportunities with both participants and faculty members. A few highlights were the quality of the facilities, the professionalism and experience of the faculty members, and the case study model used at Harvard to provide context and real-life dynamics to each scenario. I have returned home with a great appreciation of the contribution that the Industry Leader’s Fund makes to the South Australian business community.
