Transformative Leadership Program
I was introduced to the ILF by a university friend who was a previous recipient of an ILF grant. With the great support offered by Geoff Vogt I submitted my application and was successful in winning a grant that enabled me to participate in the Transformative Leadership Program offered by PACE at Adelaide University. I had a number of friends and colleagues who had completed this course and were all extremely positive about their experience.
In our incarnation of the TLP we began with a five-day intensive in Singapore. The remoteness was a great help in creating distance from the distractions of work and really allowed us to fully commit to the activities of the week. Our trainers, Andrew and Barry, did a remarkable job of creating a space in which people were able to speak openly and honestly which helped to create a profound and unique learning experience. I returned from this week exhausted but overwhelmingly positive about the outcomes of the course to date.
Our second intensive took place in Adelaide on the University of Adelaide Campus. Being local, the experience was quite different and it was hard to get as “immersed” when returning home to “normal life” each night. However, in the second week, the cohort were already very close and confident to share and so the group interactions became even more productive and created a range of opportunities for us to learn from the other participants as much as from the core material. The end of the second intensive brought some sadness knowing that the experience was coming to an end but also great satisfaction looking back at all I had learned.
Since TLP I have been able to successfully apply many of the learnings and tools to both my business and my personal life. I can honestly say that I came out of TLP as a better person – not in some crazy epiphany-type change but just a slightly wiser, more-considered and capable version of who I was when it all began.
I feel very blessed to have been introduced to the ILF and accepted to be one of its scholars. Not only was the opportunity to undertake the TLP a life-changing experience but the community, opportunity and support offered by the ILF Scholar’s Network has been invaluable. For anyone who is a leader within industry or has leadership aspirations, I would strongly recommend applying to become an ILF scholar and make the most of the continuing education opportunities that it provides.
