Eight SA business leaders awarded Industry Leaders Fund grants in 2011
The SA Industry Leaders Fund (ILF) has awarded grants totalling $107,000 to eight of the states aspiring business leaders to help them realise their professional potential. The grants were presented by Sir Eric Neal, AC, CVO, at an Awards Ceremony held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on September 1. Interestingly, this year the recipients employers vary from large international firms to small domestic organisations in both traditional and new industries, said ILF Honorary Chairman, Mr Colin Peters. The Industry Leaders Fund provides grants of up to $50,000 to talented applicants who have the potential to be leaders of industry in South Australia, he said. The grants will enable applicants to gain knowledge or experience that allows them to achieve their potential, and to achieve it more quickly than otherwise might have been possible. The eight 2011 recipients also come from eight distinct industries: packaging, shipbuilding, wool processing, wine making, information technology, aeronautical engineering, mining and electronics manufacturing. Two recipients each received $25,000 towards undertaking Management Program studies at the world renowned Harvard Business School in the USA: Mr Alf Ianniello, Chief Executive Officer, Detmold Group of Companies; and Mr Simon Ridgway, Shipbuilding Director at ASC Shipbuilding Pty Ltd. The other grant recipients were:- Mr Nigel Godde, Worldwide Operations CEO of wool processing firm, Michell Pty Ltd, who received $15,000 towards the Advanced Management Program, at Mt Eliza Melbourne Business School, University of Melbourne.
- Mr Benjamin Bryant, Winery Manager of Orlando Wines at Rowland Flat, who received $12,000 towards studying an MBA at the University of Adelaide.
- Mr Daniel Wilson, Managing Director of Information Technology firm DBG Technologies Pty Ltd, who received $12,000 towards studying an MBA at the Australian Institute of Business Management.
- Miss Rebecca Baylis, an Aeronautical Engineer with Aeronautical Engineers Australia, who received $10,000 towards a Short Course and Workshop on Safety Assessment of Aircraft Systems at Cranfield University in the UK, and the Professional Management Program at the University of Adelaide.
- Mr Cameron Schubert, General Manager Kanmantoo Copper Mines, Hillgrove Resources Ltd, who received $5,000 towards the Company Directors Course at the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
- Mr Jock Duncan, RF Product Support Technician with Electronics Manufacturer, Codan, who received $3,000 towards studying an Electrical and Electronics Degree at the University of Adelaide.
- Mr Anthony Kittel, Managing Director of REDARC Electronics, who received $30,000 towards studies at Harvard Business School.
- Miss Christine Stock, Software Applications Engineer and Training Instructor with Cadgroup, who received $13,000 to further her leadership training in IT.
